NBC'S "TODAY" SHOW FITNESS EXPERT KATHY KAEHLER APPOINTED TO FIT4FREE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Fitness Correspondent for NBC's Today Show, monthly columnist for Self magazine, and celebrity trainer, Kathy Kaehler, has been named to the Board of Directors of the non-profit health advocacy organization, FIT4FREE . Kaehler joins forces with the organization's founder Raphael Picaud and FIT4REE to encourage Americans to adopt a lifestyle strategy that includes exercise, proper nutrition and preventative medicine. Between training her high profile clients, flying to New York every other week for the "Today" show, serving as a fitness consultant for the mio watch, writing a monthly column for Self magazine, appearing as a spokesperson for Milk, and numerous television appearances, she finds the time to take three boys to school, work out with husband Billy and take their black labs on walks. Living life to its fullest is not a motto, but rather an assumption for Kaehler. Last year, her new book, Teen Fitness, published by HarperCollins, was a popular success, garnering editorial in most of the teen magazines. Her previous book, Real World Fitness with Kathy Kaehler, published by St. Martins Press, was also a success, making amazon.com's top ten list several days running. Her eight-week series, "Get Fit Today" for the "Today" show helped viewers get fit, with practical suggestions that were easy to adapt to a busy lifestyle. Adding to her fitness pallet as a FIT4FREE board member, Kaehler will be working with the organization to spread awareness about the importance of health education in schools, freely accessible community fitness facilities and instruction, improved access to healthy foods as an alternative to junk food, and community efforts to improve the wellness of the general public. FIT4FREE was established to address the rising
rates of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses over the past
several decades. Socially conscious health advocates, like Kathy Kaehler
and FIT4FREE's founder Raphael Picaud, intend to see these alarming trends
reversed to lower health care costs and improve the quality of life for
Americans of all socio-economic levels. Through FIT4FREE's projects, including
local youth programs, the Fit Village in Acoma, New Mexico, and media
campaigns to promote awareness, they are helping to make a difference
in the way we take care of our bodies and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
